FREDDIE THE FROG And THE THUMP IN THE NIGHT (Book 1)
Freddie the Frog is a new music theory series that I have started to incorporate in my K-3 music classes. Freddie is a puppet that I use to introduce basic music theory in the music classroom. The first story, The Thump in the Night, introduces the music staff, Treble Clef symbol and the pitch letters, A, C, E(line), E(space), F(line), and F(space). We will be learning more and more music theory through this amazing frog. If you are interested in finding out more about him (cause your kids talk about him at home) then visit the Freddie the Frog website. Click the button above and it will take you to the website.
FREDDIE THE FROG And THE MYSTERIOUS WAHOOOOO (Book 2)
Freddie and his best friend Eli the elephant, find themselves stranded on an island in this book.
They follow the mysterious Wahooooo's through the jungle and try to communicate with the purple elephant in charge! In this book, the music concepts taught are steady beat (the steady even pulse) and rhythm (the long and short sounds and silences in music). Eli the elephant is the steady beat and Freddie is the rhythm. Ask your (K-3) child about this story and see if they can show you the difference between beat and rhythm!
